The folding part already has a brass tube in it for the pin to rotate inside. When the desk is punched, the whole end explodes...something has to give since there is a lot of leverage there. Yeah, most of ours (and I'm sure there are more here than anywhere in the world) have the ends where those little pins go in intensely rebuilt with epoxy. They actually get rather strong with the addition of sturdy polymers. I like the overall design because they cover the whole Pinblock area and keep a little more dreck out. But it came in one day I was extremely busy and I just completely forgot it, then this thread reminded me. =20 These Baldwin music desks are a real pain. The way the hinge is made, the screws strip out really easily and the little thing that goes into the actual desk is only held in place by a thin layer of veneer.
