No surprise there. The change of file format with each new version
release has been a problem since release 2.0 of the first program
ever written. In order to not obsolete the installed base with each
version release some vague attempt at backward compatibility is
usually maintained. If an owner of v7 can load the file and export
in v5 format, you might by luck actually be able to pull it into
your v5. If so, it will possibly load by v6 too. If the v7 version
file didn't use the bells and whistles that didn't exist in v5, it
has a chance.
It's worth a try.
