[CAUT] Duo Art Player piano

Debra,

To install rolls: The roll goes on the top spindle in the spool box (the
box in the middle) with the paper coming off the roll "over the top". The
paper goes over the tracker bar (the thing with all the holes) and onto the
take-up roll. There is a cardboard tab on the end of the roll, with a small
metal grommet that fits on a hook on the take-up roll. Your picture is a
little small, and there is a reflection on the spool box, but it looks like
you may not have a take-up roll. If so, you can get one from Player Piano
Co. in Wichita, KS, 316-263-3241. They don't have a web site.

These players are playback only. Cutting a new roll requires special
equipment.

The Duo-Art is what is known as a "reproducing" player. This means it has
additional pneumatic circuits, and additional tracker bar holes, to allow
the piano to reproduce the dynamics of the original performance. A
reproducer in good condition can give an astoundingly good performance.

You might find more resources if you contact the Automatic Musical
Instrument Collectors Association (AMICA). They publish Mechanical Music
Digest, and could put you in contact with knowledgeable people in your area.

Hope this helps,
Ken Z.
