Yes,  Glenn Gould was so idiosyncratic that he made Horowitz look like Chet 
Atkins.  His pianistic genius is never doubted, but he WAS playing Bach in 
equal temperament, so I don't think he was really listening to what was going on. 
(he once said "I know there was a reason composers chose the keys that they 
did, but I have never really figured out what that reason was...")
