I like the Spurlock method with the alligator forceps (stack left on frame).
To raise the half round thingees (can't remember what they dubbed them), I
use a Mannino broach - nice and sharp end, fits into the space easily. Jab
into the felt and lift.

I use McLube on the pins, applied with a piece of cloth. I use Prolube
applied with a hypo oiler for the felt (tip of hypo in the hole, touching
the middle of each felt, tiny squeeze). In the long run, I think you get a
lot less wear of the bushings. I brush powdered teflon on bushing cloth
before gluing it in when re-bushing, but I find the Prolube goes on faster
with bushings in place.
