No curtain on our stage. For solo recitals, it all depends how the soloists is treating the pianos. If he/she had a banger on the first half, I just run out there, do a quick check, and correct a few unisons. We don't have a big hall, (seats around 900 when full, but usually around 500 for a good concert), so there isn't too much of a noise factor. On a side, but reltated, note to this, one of our MFA piano students was the page turner for a recital recently. She always complains about the condition of piano, (all of them), I guess trying to show off how good an ear she has, and how sensitive she is to minor problems. Anyway, at the intermission I asked her if there were any notes that need tuning. She said, just a few in the bass. I checked the bass, and no problems, but there were some very bad unisons in the mid to high treble. I never did pay much attention to her in the past, but now I just sort of ignore her requests for fixing problems. (and I ain't talking about makeup) I would like to read some chit-chat on how everyone handles intermission tuning touchups if you have such an occasion to do so. How many of you do them? Only at solo piano recitals? (Does the stage manager bring a curtain across for privacy/quiet.) Welp? :B A concerned citizen
