Rob, I¹m not in exactly the same situation, but this is how it works for me. We have a ³College Community Auditorium² which is one of those auditoriums that technically isn¹t apart of the university, but is; If you know what I mean. I just had a talk with the director of the auditorium about getting paid better. The current situation is I¹m in a staff position at the school of music so whatever work I do for other dept. is overtime pay for me. Unless it¹s a SoM related event. My biggest issue is these groups are professionals and people are paying to see them, but since I¹m a University employee I can¹t bill the auditorium I only can turn in my hours and get paid overtime. I never turn in less than 3 hrs. otherwise it¹s not worth it. Of course I never work that full 3 hrs and they know that and they haven¹t had an issue yet. I¹m doing it partly for the little extra money and it¹s a convenience for them. Because of schedules I usually have to do it during the day sometime so I have to make those hours up to the school of music which isn¹t hard since there is always evening and weekend work. For the school of music I¹m not allowed to go over 40 hrs. so if weekend or evening work is involved I am able to leave a few hours early or what ever I¹m going to be over. That¹s ideal for doing private work, but since I have to make up my hrs. due to the work I did for the other depts. That takes a little away from that. I would try to get them to pay you overtime for your work which the other dept. has to pay. -- Tony Graves RPT Piano Technician School of Music Ball State University Muncie, IN 47306 (765) 285-0053 On 8/20/07 4:58 PM, "caut-request at ptg.org" <caut-request at ptg.org> wrote: > Send caut mailing list submissions to > caut at ptg.org > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://www.moypiano.com/resources/#archives > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > caut-request at ptg.org > > You can reach the person managing the list at > caut-owner at ptg.org > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of caut digest..." > > Today's Topics: > > 1.
