I have to go with Dave on this one. First of all, Rick Baldassin is a dealer for Accutuner. Second of all, just like in regular computers, PDA's have ever increasing processors. Any delay isn't going to be noticeable really if it's even really there. I have both an SAT and TuneLab (PDA and the trial for PC). There is no more delay for TuneLab than for the SAT to establish its pattern (using the footswitch). This is not a brand X over Y post by the way. Just my observations both as a piano technician and as a network engineer. Heck my pda phone has a faster processor than my first computer. Link to Young Paper) Jim: TuneLab has a slight delay if you've changed notes. It has to listen to know if you went up or down and how far but that is an amazingly small delay for all the calculating it's doing. Once it's on the note you're tuning, I haven't noticed a delay. My brain is not the quickest mouse trap on the shelf so maybe I just haven't noticed but I don't really think it has a delay. All ETDs have to register the frequency, notice the phase shift and compare it to its internal reference so I don't know to what he is referring. dave David M. Porritt dporritt at smu.edu _____ Dave, I own an SAT and Verituner and at a class comparing ETDs Baldassin said that the "other" ETDs have a fraction of a second delay to register the note. He says this fraction is crucial and that he tunes to this "first" part of the note. Do you find this to be the case? We compared tunings with 4 ETDs and found that they all would "pass" the RPT test by 97 percent or better. Good to see I'm not the only one who turns off the ETD in the bass.
