Older Yamaha G series grands do not have key end felts, but small cube
shaped lifter felts on the underlevers which resemble upright jack stop
felts. These are prone to be easily mangled when tightening underlever
flanges. Additionally, if the instrument is out of regulation or one
accidently depresses a key when pushing in the action they get mangled. One
should always depress the damper pedal when pushing in an action, especially
on one of these. These fragile felts also have gravity working against them
and tend to come apart or fall off completely. That is probably the reason
the newer grands have key end felts instead.
