Dear Scott,

 

Human Resources here at UMKC has finally listed our head piano technician
position, so we're ready to have the job listed on the CAUT site.  Here's
the description:

 

The UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance is seeking outstanding applicants
for the position of Head Piano Technician.  Responsibilities include, either
personally or through supervision of other technicians, the tuning and
maintenance of the Conservatory's 120 pianos, and to serve as the chief
concert technician for concerts and events.  The head technician will work
closely with the Concert Production Staff and build good communication with
faculty and administration.  S/he will develop maintenance policies that
meet the needs of a busy, growing Conservatory, assisting with the selection
of new inventory and scheduling repairs and rebuilds in a timely fashion.
The head technician will provide direction and guidance to assistant or
contract technicians, and advise the administration on all matters related
to the piano/harpsichord inventory.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Classification
as a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) is required.  Demonstrated skills in
voicing, regulating, tuning and repairing of pianos is also required.  A
college degree and college tuning experience is desirable. The successful
candidate will be a piano technician of the highest concert caliber as well
