[CAUT] Caut Positions (salaries and support)

Hi all-
As follow-up to the interesting, and sometimes passionate, discussion
regarding our positions in the academic world I am now able to share a bit
of good news. Last spring I initiated a formal review of the classification
and budgets for my position here at St. Olaf.  This week I was notified that
effective September 1 a significant upgrade in my classification will go
into effect.  This is a welcome and very encouraging good first step toward
improving operating budgets in general, and basically made my week....

A few of you generously shared some data of your respective programs which
went a long way toward making this possible.  I wish to sincerely thank all
of you who helped me with this project (without listing any names or
details) on the list simply to encourage others who may need to know that
what we have here can work.  The information I was able to gather through
friends on this list remains private, but my appreciation to all can be
public.
