[CAUT] Caster noise - solved! 3 noises.

I finally had time to take apart the big casters and find the problem. Many of you had a part of the puzzle, which actually had 3 noises and not just one.


 1.  The ferrel was loose and needed to be tightened. It definitely clicked there, but after tightening there was still more noise. (see pic)
 2.  The shaft clicked and grease solved that. (It was a small but definite noise. Pic)
 3.  The main noise was the actual handle/shaft that needed tightening. To do this I had to loosening the two small hex nuts on the handle slightly then turn the handle clockwise (tighten) about 180 degrees. You must hold the back (small nub) of this shaft with pliers or it will turn. This brought everything tighter and voila! No noise anywhere. Perfect function.

The pictures show all the important stuff. The last picture shows the space (lost motion) that needed to be removed. That is where the pen is pointing. It took a few minutes to discover this procedure, but it worked well. Too many turns and the wheel won't turn, too loose - noise.

I hope this helps someone else. Thanks to all who gave all the clues and tips.
