We have a Baldwin F that has wippen assist springs as part of a Stanwood action balancing. On occasion, some of these springs tick or creak when their note is played. Protek MPL 'grease' will make the sound go away, though I'm not sure it's permanent. I posted this on another list as a solution to a ticking sound on 2/3 of the notes on a 2007 Wendl & Lung 151. I said to pull the wire to the bass side and spread the coil to open it. He said it worked on every note but one. Lubng the groove fixed that one. My original thought was that there is a coating on the wire that causes some stickyness. When the coil is bound up by pulling it to the trbele side, the coil itself makes the tick. The direction the coil is wound changes the side of course. I wonder if lubing the coil would work? Anyway, the factories may be using a wire that causes this Thank you so much Zeno. This should be in the journal. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
