Hi Conrad! Our fledgling museum, Period Piano Center (_www.periodpianos.org_ (http://www.periodpianos.org) ) has a similar Chickering, #73340, with 13 missing shanks/flanges, music desk intact! (mostly) This piano was donated by a colleague for the museum to use or sell for fundraising; I'm still not sure what to do, since it has the Brown action. It was refinished and restrung...but action and back action is pretty much a mess still. Is the action completely intact and original on yours? (maybe hammers were replaced) How about keytops - is the original ivory in excellent shape, or loose and splitting (like ours), or recovered with plastic (oh well)? Would the school consider a donation to a museum? I'd love to see whatever pictures you can share. Thanks! Bill Bill Shull, RPT, M.Mus. Not ME! yet... antiquarians, We've finally made the move to leave the 19th century behind and retire 6' 4", Brown action, Chickering #77710 (1889) from a practice room. Don't worry, we didn't time warp too far - it's been replaced by a recently renovated 1922 Krakauer 5' 8". What to do... Anybody desperately seeking such a beastie? Definitely restorable, but missing original music rack/shelf and a few chunks of veneer. The back posts would give me several days of heat in my fireplace, and the legs could be yule logs, but I'd prefer to see it be used musically for another 120 years. pictures available, transportation is not. reasonable offers accepted. -- Conrad Hoffsommer, RPT Luther College Decorah, IA **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
