Along the lines of what Mark Cramer was talking about, getting suppliers to provide things, one thing I would love to have is a flange spacer like the one in the photo, but sized for Steinway. For when the flanges are too close together to use the other kind. Space between flange top and pinblock might often mean you couldn't use it inside the piano, but even if it only worked on the benchtop it would be handy. And all that's needed is the tip, with threads, to attach to the Japanese handle.
