No, it is not. Sound energy--volume, if you will-- is being created by the soundboard--a transducer--as a consequence of vibrating energy sourced in the string causing it to physically move. Sound volume is not "being made larger or more powerful" by the soundboard. ddf | -----Original Message----- | From: caut-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:caut-bounces at ptg.org] On | Behalf Of Jeff Tanner | Sent: May 09, 2009 9:47 AM | To: caut at ptg.org | Subject: Re: [CAUT] Semantics | | | ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Delwin D Fandrich" <del at fandrichpiano.com> | To: <caut at ptg.org> | Sent: Friday, May 08, 2009 5:58 PM | Subject: Re: [CAUT] Semantics | | | > As related to the topic under discussion, i.e., the transfer of energy | > from a vibrating string to either a plate or a soundboard: | > 1) Nothing is being made larger or more powerful. | | Volume. | Jeff
