You're right! I always refer squares to someone I don't like. <G> I've only tuned about 4 or 5. No oblongs in the few I've tuned. My "what the heck is it" was in reference to the kind of piano. I have seen actually seen oblong pins and have a tip, which I've never used. Basically they are flat on two sides and round on the other two. Instead of a square top that is tapered you see an flat sided oval when viewed from the top. Some harpsichord makers still employ oblong pins on their instruments.
