That is to say, 'the shank at 90 degrees' as measured from the center of the core to align with the jack center. There was a great PTJ article on Action Elevations some years back. I've used the Hamburg shank & flange on the last two actions to get the core positioned out to align with the center, plus to get more room for the jack between the knuckle and rep stop felt.
