Fred,

I personally hope that you do not "shut up and go away". In fact I plan to attend one of those CAUT classes at the convention in Las Vegas - partly, because I need a refresher, and partly because I want to see first-hand what it is that is being offered (and presumably groomed for the "intensive" presentation).

I am not about to discuss here why it is that the current proposal is not suitable for implementation at this time - I believe that you had a belly-full of that and this is not the proper venue anyway. Suffice it to say that there is much in your work and that of your colleagues that is worth preserving and developing further. Perhaps in a more flexible format, a more gradual approach to development and with the resolution of several other issues, something may come of it yet. It won't be this year, and it may not be exactly what any of us envisioned - but when does anything ever come out exactly as originally imagined?

Best wishes,

Israel Stein
