[CAUT] CCM job opening

Jim,

The 118Es are indeed to be avoided for all the reasons you specified below and I made sure we didn't get any. The UP126 and UP132 models are proving to be excellent...We used to have P-22s in the classrooms but the 126s have been more stable than them even since the 2nd tuning right out of the box. We have about a dozen of them in classrooms and I'm very happy with them. They have lousy wheels though so I put Jansen twin dollies under them...they work great in that configuration.

David,

They changed the design to 118E for several reasons, but the main problem I've had is tuning stability and glue. They actually tune easily and sound ok, but I have to tune them about twice as much as P22s.

The glue joints fail; hammers are all loose, hammer butt felts fall off, misc other glue joints, same. I finally took all the actions, turned them over, and put two drops of thin CA glue on the glue collar. (OH NO! I hear someone saying...) 4 years now and no more loose hammers. Probably should have used hide glue, but hey, it works on loose tuning pins. Hide glue on butt felts and other things though.

The 126s are much nicer and I'm trying to get those when replacement time comes around.

Oh, oh...what is the problem with the Boston 118s? I just tuned one and thought it was very nice.
If there is a consensus towards a certain Boston model, I'd like to know?
