I was told to use Isopropyl Alcohol w/ Snuggle fabric softener 8:1
It seems to work for old uprights, and spinets....also fairly good results
softening old damper felts.

Those of you who use fabric softener on hard hammers what do use, what do
you mix it with and in what proportion. I've got a customer with an old
upright that someone put some real rocks on and there's no way to needle
them down. Tried the alcohol and water route with limited success, going to
plan B before I set the explosives.
