Often that's true but not always. I've encountered old actions with a still good set of hammers, good match for the leverage just vergiris problems and often only in the hammer flange--not to mention a customer who can't afford an entire action rebuild. If there were a center pin that was made out a material that functioned in that situation I'd probably find occasion to use it.

Ok, by the way "If want to know the truth, I'll stop having opinions" Sounds good aye?

Dear friends/colleagues
Forgive the cavalier attitude from a sick human being.... but.....who really who cares? Practically the hammers and knuckles are probably toasted anyway. As well the knuckles are most likely in the wrong place now for modern hammer weights. Even with a new center pin of magical properties the bushings are gooped up.
Ok .... Back to the couch

Maybe it' time for anodized aluminum center pins. Anyway, the question still stands, if you repinned with a non reactive material could you solve the problem without changing parts and what would that material likely be?

But are they 60% copper at the point of contact?
I assumed that the center pins are solid nickel silver and not plated -- but these days, I'm learning not to depend too much on the accuracy of my assumptions.
