[CAUT] Sauter

Laurence,

I concur with Anne. One of our former professors has a 1/16 tone microtonal (97 keys I think). Does anyone else make something like this commercially? The new Sauters at our local store are wonderful instruments. You have innovation, quality, historical significance, so yes, I would think they merit an entry, or at least an honorable mention of some kind.

Regards,

Laurence,
Sauter would be a great addition to the volume in light of its direct linkage to the Streicher lineage. Sauter also makes a remarkable microtonal piano as well as very imaginative case designs. A walk through their website is very informative. Many of us have learned a great deal from Ulrich Sauter in his classes at conventions both here and abroad. He has contributed enormously to the field.

In your collective opinion, is Sauter sufficiently distinctive and important historically to deserve an entry in Grove? Other criteria include quality, innovation, influence. I don't have space for every respected maker but wouldn't want to overlook anyone remarkable. Advice appreciated, and any other suggestions.
