Responsibilities include the following areas: scheduling; inventory management; piano restorations, including keyboard action and damper action rebuilding; restringing; fine regulation of keyboard and damper actions and concert voicing; care, maintenance, and tuning of harpsichords, fortepianos and other historical keyboards; supervising the moving of pianos both within and external to the department. Successful candidate will also be required to teach an undergraduate course in Piano Design and Mechanics as it is scheduled in the music course rotation. Bachelor's Degree with technical training including apprenticeship with an experienced technician required. Successful candidate must be aural tuner familiar with advanced temperament checks and techniques. Membership as a Registered Piano Technician in the Piano Technicians Guild necessary.
