old fashioned way that I was taught to do a good repair on loose capstans is to
use bridal tapes. Remove the capstan, spread glue on the bridal tape and
put it in the hole, thread the capstan into the hole, and cut the tape flush
with the key using a razor knife.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

have also used thin C/A glue, which is much faster and doesn't even require
disassembly. After the glue sets the next time you turn the capstans there
will be a loud SNAP, then they should work nicely.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

capstans? We have a 6-year-old grand where the capstans are so loose
that you can’t keep a good hammer line. Within a week of regulating it
several hammers are back down on the rebound felts. None of the capstans
are hard to turn and many are way too loose. Unfortunately this is from
the 5-year-warranty company so I’m on my own with this
