We had two B's on stage at the same time and they both seemed to do fine, although there were the obvious tonal differences when compared to a D. In my case the piano will be used only for soloists and small chamber groups, and so the choice was made easier. Another consideration might be that with smaller pianos you'll typically have a larger field from which to select. When I was in NY last they had 9 B's but only 4 D's. In Boston recently it was 6 or 7 B's to 1 D.
