I figure the school has a more or less set amount of money to devote to purchasing my labor services. I can take that money in my paycheck and pay my dues, or I can get them to write the check instead. What’s the difference? Plus, I have private clients outside my university job, and thus am self-employed, so my dues are a deductible business expense anyway. Any time you “get the employer to pay for” something, it will redound on your paycheck, usually in foregone future raises. There ain’t no free lunch.
I have a quick question; Have any of you asked the schools of music to reimburse part or all of your PTG dues as ongoing education?
Thanks for any input...
