tax is certainly a good way to do this. I think if your Department pays
for the dues you do not have to claim the amount as income. It’s
like when an institution reimburses for mileage at the IRS rate, the employee
does not have to claim the reimbursement as income. On the other hand,
the employee cannot “double dip” by claiming the same reimbursed mileage
on his/her income tax, as you well know. However, the net amount of
savings is more by having the institution reimburse the actual money than if
you took it off your income tax. I should think the same thing would
apply for dues. I think it would be worth checking into. If you
have line items in the departmental budget you could check with the Chair about
including this reimbursement in one of the line items. It is definitely
an advantage for the department for you to be in PTG…the information
gleaned from the magazine; being able to attend the Convention and seminars,
etc.<o:p></o:p></span></a></p>

<tt>then I talk to them about it and either they do or dont. Most of

<tt>things are tax deductible and if I am not mistaken you cant mix your P's </tt><br>
<tt>and Q' there. If you get support... you have to declare it as income </tt><br>
<tt>over here and don't get to deduct that amount as an expense.
Sometimes </tt><br>
