color:blue'>This is great Dennis! Congratulations. I am optimistic about our
chances to improve our positions both individually and collectively. This forum
and the people who inhabit the list are valuable resources for anyone contemplating
a similar move. We think a CAUT endorsement will help as well. As my Human Resources
officer here at CCM pointed out to me (she was a great advocate for me), nobody
is going to do it for you. The system generally isn’t set up to recognize
merit. Having an accurate, up to date job description is a great way to inform
the system of the true requirements of your position and I encourage everybody
who isn’t satisfied to give a position review and/or compensation review a
try. Since position reviews are based on comparisons of positions at similar
institutions, once we get a few cracks in the dyke I believe we will begin to
see a cascade (well, at least a trickle) of improvement in the attractiveness
of available CAUT positions. What raises one of us raises us all.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

and sometimes passionate, discussion regarding our positions in the academic
world I am now able to share a bit of good news. Last spring I initiated a
formal review of the classification and budgets for my position here at St.
Olaf. This week I was notified that effective September 1 a significant
upgrade in my classification will go into effect. This is a welcome and
very encouraging good first step toward improving operating budgets in general,
and basically made my week.... <o:p></o:p></p>
