<WBR>Henry<br> <br> I presume when you say they've become problematic, that you mean the bushings are tight, and the hammers, and/or wippen flanges are sticking. If that is the case, the bushings can ben  reamed, just like cloth bushings. Steinway used to have a teflon bushing repair kit, but I don't know if those are still available. They had polished centerpins in them. (both ends are round, so that the cut end of the center pin doesn't dig into the bushings.)
