I haven't seen the Edwards covers so I can't make a direct comparison,
but I've been impressed with the two that I bought from Clark Dawson
for our two B's. Clark was very responsive to emails and the turnaround
was quick, and he sent along a little personalized sales kit with
printed information of the benefits of a string cover as well as a tiny
grand cover (for demonstration purposes) and material/color swatches.<br>

Although the material used is not terribly thick we found that it <i>did
</i>attenuate the upper partials somewhat, and therefore made the
pianos sound less loud. I can't tell you in terms of dB's I would
estimate the overall attenuation at about 10% - 15%. One of our pianos
is in a small hard room with low ceilings and pretty well-used 5 year
old hammers, and sounds better with the cover. The other is in a much
larger and softer room, with new hammers and my wife definitely prefers
the sound without the cover. I've been trying to talk the school into
string covers for all their practice room grands because I'd expect to
see a noticeable improvement in pitch-stability, but I also think that
they would benefit from a little attenuation!<br>

practice room grands and I am soliciting opinions on the utility of the

covers available today. The ones I am looking at are woolen which seems
like a good
idea to me both for keeping assorted food and dreck out of the action
and belly
as well as keeping condensation off the strings..We have a lot of rusty
strings
around here which doesn’t make tuning any more fun than it already is.<o:p></o:p></p>
