When moving the EX (I think that was the one, it's all a blur) at the KC convention in June, I noticed a metal plate mounted at the bottom of the = bass arm, screwed into the bottom of the keybed.  The idea obviously was = to protect the corner when tipping the piano.  I have thought of = trying something similar for an upright we have in a recital hall that is used = often for a classroom.  It has the same damage you described. My idea is to mount a metal plate, about 1/8" thick to the = underside of the keybed that will run the length of the piano.  It will stick = out about 1/8" to take the brunt of the door jam, etc. and will be painted = black to blend in with the piano finish.  I will also drill holes for cheek = block and keyslip screw accessibility.  This will preserve the look of = the piano, as I don't think it will be very noticeable, and should protect = the front from movers, both trained and untrained.
