Remember to have the back lift a "tad" earlier than the front of the damper. This ensures that the wedge is resting fully on and in between the strings. I always put it in the front because we all know what has happened to Baldwin (though I wouldn't blame it on where they put their tricord felts) plus it seems that the string spacing would be more regular in the front due to the agraffes.
