<BR>When shimming the backrail to fit the dags, shim on the __top__ of the rail -
<BR>in other words, the contact surface. Usually the routine is: scrape the
<BR>surface heavily to remove lubricants and get to a fresh surface; then glue on
<BR>maple veneer; then usually sand or scrape lightly to get a perfect (doesn't
<BR>bind, doesn't rattle) fit. Finally, relubricate; I prefer dry moly. There's
<BR>no change to the relationship between key-end felt and damper lever, and
<BR>usually not much change to anything else in the regulating, except for
<BR>stabilizing it all.
