About the talk on the network concerning Steinway bashing and the likes:
The "offensive" entry on the network, I am quite certain, has been deleted
from my files, and I don't care to resurrect it from the archives. I will
keep the respondent nameless, but, in my own words, relay the nature of
the message. To wit, "I don't care what anyone says, Steinway hasn't made a
good piano or piano part in the last twenty years......"

Whether this is true or not (I personally would not agree), it does not
offer much information to the reader aid him/her come to any conclusions
offer much information to the reader aid him/her come to any conclusions
offer much information to the reader to aid him/her in coming to their
own conclusions about Steinway's manufacturing skills. As Steinway would
readily admit, they have had their problems in trying to maintain a production
facility in the heart of New York City, problems which can be frustrating to
the technician needing parts and/or advice; but I remember a time when
Steinway wouldn't give any technician outside of their own service network
the time of day. That has changed dramatically, and I feel that technicians
must help them with the evolution of the new communication channels between
the company and the "outside" technical community.

But regardless of my feelings about Steinway,be reminded that it is in our
best interest to keep a constuctive component in our criticism. "Bashing"
carries the flavor of bad advertising, and, goodness knows, I don't want to
see any advertising on this network let alone bad advertising.
