Ron Torella wrote regarding the Ancott directory: >How do the dealers with whom you deal feel about >you owning such a publication? I haven't ever heard a dealer mention any objection to the Ancott Directory. I don't suppose they would like clients studying it themselves, since it has the wholesale price margin encoded into the product ID number. The public tends to resent price mark-ups, even though they know intellectually that businesses must make a profit. So, whenever I give out information from the directory, I only reveal the retail price listed. >I don't suppose the Ancott goes as far as, say, >Consumer Reports' auto shopper subscription >which gives breakdown on what each component >costs . . . . All models and varieties of a different model are listed; i.e. different case styles and finishes, and the prices of each. Bill Spurlock
