      You can bleach ivories with a fairly strong peroxide solution and
ultraviolet light. To make a seamless joint, you have to have a perfect
mechanical joint between head and tail, and both faces of the butt joint
need to be perfectly vertical. This joint must be so tight that no glue
cna get up between the pieces.
      Both these topics will be treated in detail in the July issue of
PTJ, which will be a "theme" issue dealing with ivory (and bone) keytops.
