Merry Christmas everyone! I just looked at the recent post from Joe from aol, and can sympathize with the costly expense of e-mail on aol. I have only one internet account now with Internet Direct, in Vancouver. I cancelled aol because for the price of 4 hours with aol, I could get an entire month!!! for a little over $20. The television ads for aol look really glitzy, but you are always waiting for the artwork, and also get charged for any downloading that you do. One of my bills was $500!!! for the month, when I was experimenting with my FREE 10 hours. I didn't realize that the 10 hours had gone by so quickly and so did the money out of my pocketbook. A friend of mine (Wayne Matley) has been on the internet for a little while now. He lives in an isolated area and has had trouble getting on the net. He thought that he had to stay on compuserve because he wasn't aware that there were any other internet services out there. He is now connected to Eskimo North for approximately $100 a year. He is having so much fun with the internet now, and he doesn't have to worry about the expense. Those aol ads sure look good on TV, but the actor must be a millionaire to use the service. I'm certainly not hurting at all, but I could see a pile of money going down the drain by continuing to use the service. Any other comments? I'm just trying to save you tehcs some money, if possible. paulb@direct.ca Paul Brown, R.P.T. Vancouver, B.C. Chapter #011
