This is off the normal path, but thought I would ask if anyone has any ideas. I was asked by a local museum to repair and regulate their 1914 WurliTzer DX Orchestrion (Nickelodeon). Everything turned out fine except for the (in)famous 6-roll automatic changer. It still likes chewing and shredding up rolls. I am a reproducer rebuilder, but never ran into this style changer before. I called Durrell Armstrong who will be sending some literature and suggests I contact Amica for advice. If you have advice on or know of anyone in the NY area with roll changer experience, I would appreciate your input. As is, it makes a great paper shredder. In the previous postings about ivory whitening and bleaching, I think that most of the procedures will work, but I want to mention a caution. If the yellowed ivories are already brittle or easily cracked, then bleaching and exposure to lots of UV wavelengths might make them less durable. Basically, too much of a good thing might damage the ivories. Also, a slight amount of yellow from ageing (if uniform across keyboard), I feel, is usually not objectionable. Thanks, Fred Scoles RPT
