I have a customer with a Steinway Player Grand. 1920's era SN 203907 may be a model "XR" according to Larry Fine's book. The plate and string scale is a Model M. The pneumatic action has been long since discarded. The trapwork is quite difficult to service because it is the same that was there when the player action was present. Owners are considering the cost of replacing the trapwork and the sostenuto system. Has anyone experienced replacing the trapwork on these gutted Steinway players? Please share some insight on this. Thanks Much! Lorlin B. RPT
