The piano project in Havana (23 donated old U.S. pianos fixed up in Cuba and distributed) needs advice: How can we ship small packages of bass strings etc. to Cuba? Dampp-chaser Inc. donated 23 heaters but they are still in the Dominican Republic months later because of shipping troubles. Mexico's not far from Cuba but stuff may get swamped in red tape. I thought Canada would be ideal because of her long-time good relations with Cuba, but Pianophile for example does not send stuff outside Canada. Or would a Canadian tuner be willing to forward a package to Havana (say strings from Mapes, e.g.) from time to time if, I promise to pay the postage? Please contact me if you can help.
