re: thumping Steinway dampers
This problem comes up in my work from time to time. Isn't it just
the sound of hardened (chiefly bass) dampers each womping down, and all
together they make a loud thump? Massage the bass dampers from above,
see if it doesn't make the thump a lot better. Then sell a new damper job.
