Strike point location is critical in the treble and should be done with the new hammers and shanks. If the old hammers are severaly worn the best location will be inward because of the wear. This could cause a mislocation of the new hammers by an ever so little but enough to lose power. When it is not possible to do this then position the new hammers to match the old location be extending the old hammer felt to where it should be and match the new to that. Not difficult but it works, most of the time. Newton nhunt@rci.rutgers.edu
