I have used a great type of drill press that was bench top in size and quite "low profile". It was placed on a flat surface atop the case of a grand piano and used to drill into the "pinblock" of the instrument. In other words we were able to move this drillpress from left to right along the project. It had no "table" of its own. I need to know what type of drill this is called in order to communicate with distributors. If YOU understand my description and know what I am talking about, please drop me a line. Thanks very much for reading this! Lorlin Barber, RPT Lorlin, I remember using one of these to bore a pinblock when I was a student at WIT in Sioux City (need I say IOWA?). I think it was a Delta although it may have been a Honeywell. At any rate, it was mounted, as you describe, on a plank stretching across the rim at 7 degrees. It was multi-speed (by way of belts, if that rings any bells) and was quite a nifty (and affordable) tool. The man who is in charge of that shop and would know EXACTLY the name, model and serial number is: Doug Neal, instructor of Piano Technology Western Iowa Tech Community College 4647 Stone Ave., Box 265 Sioux City, IA 51102-0265 Direct Dial (712) 274-8733, ext. 1412 home (712) 277-2187 Eric Leatha tunrboy@aol.com
