I correct myself: *Non-visual* tuning aids are allowed for aural tuning.
Instruments like the Sanderson Accu-Fork are perfectly acceptable, and
are considered the same as a tuning fork for testing purposes.
I have a little tiny Seiko metronome that has a perfectly pitched A440,
it measures exactly A440.00 on my Sanderson Accu-Tuner, but the tone is
not as nice as the Accu-Fork. The Accu-Fork tunes not only A, but A#, B
and C, and hs a volume as sliding pitch controls. The pitch control is
great for pitch raises too (but not as good as SAT though!)
If you take the test with a real old-fashoned tuning fork, make sure you
have someone test it (and tune it) with an Accu-Tuner. I always hate to
see someone fail the tuning exam just because their fork was off! (It
happens!)
