Newton, and Colleagues -

It is common for piano technicians in higher ed to outlast their
administrative bosses. In my eight years with SUNY Fredonia, I worked for
three different chairs of the School of Music, who in turn answered to a
succession of four deans, who themselves wore out three different academic
vice presidents. Now, the president, who arrived when I did, is leaving,
after surprising everyone with his lengthy tenure of ten years.

There seems to be something about being in administration in academia...
maybe it's the money... that brings out the worst in some folks. But that
also motivates them to move on, get promoted, retire, go into consulting,
etc.

I don't know whether any of this is applicable to your case, Newton, but I
might hope so. I wouldn't be at all surprosed to see your current nemesis
take a promotion or a new post. The dumber they are, the faster they move!

Best regards,
