I posted some rather loose facts (fax) about SC and this just added to the already abundant rumors that are floating around about this purveyor of pianos. Roland posted info that was far closer to the facts I dug up today. Sent to print in the chapter newsletter [exerpt] >There are currently 12 stores left of the once immense 30 store Sherman Clay empire. L. A. >no longer has a store, Oklahoma City was bought out by a local person(s), and Eugene (OR) is being >liquidated soon. This leaves two in Seattle, Portland, four in the greater San Fransico area, >two in Texas, and two in Arizona. Word has it that the Sacramento store will be closed >soon, and one location in Texas will be closed soon. This will leave the best of the best >still in operation turning profits and supporting the industry for many years to come. At the >moment, I found no reason to fear the worst, SC is just simply up for sale and if someone can >come up with the 20 million or whatever price it sells for, they'll have a vibrant healthy >selling force in the piano industry on the west coast. > Hey no problem, I got that much stuffed away in a coffee can in my backyard. Sorry for the loose info, and if I caused anybody any discomfort, you're free to fling the first handfull of mud next time we meet. I hope you're a lousy aim.
