Dear Dick,
It just might be possible to get good resuls with Dryburgh Adhesive
therapy. Wouldn't running a shot of the 'thin' CA-glue along the area work? I
find that the thin-stuff wicks quite well along cracks, pins, and 'dead' glue
joints where ordinary adhesives just can't penetrate. Exterior visible
areas get a dab of the medium viscocity, ok? Not sure about the longevity of
the repair... but it has worked for me in other areas of the piano. (Also
outstanding for 'loose' veneer problems. A little-dab-will-do-ya.)
Anybody got stats on how effective this would be in the long run? Does
CA-glue handle the stresses of a vibrating board well? Anybody tried
replacing an entire rib with Ultra-Thick, yet? Does this stuff even HAVE
acoustic-properties!? Don't know.
Might work on your problem, though. Tell you what. YOU try it, and let
us know how it works out, OK?
Sincerely,
Jeffrey T. Hickey, RPT
