Back in the early 80s a truckload of Steinways got stuck in a blizzard
(the story goes it was so cold that the diesel fuel turned to jelly.
These tales get embellished over time.) The pianos were frozen for
about 6 days I believe. The local dealer made a "deal" with SMU and we
bought 11 grands at pretty reasonable prices. They might have been
damaged in some intangable way, but actually they have been pretty good
instruments for about 14 years. Given a choice, I'd rather have one
that had an easy life, however, at the price we paid, I think we did
fine.

These were in a truck, not out in the snow or anything, but they did get
very cold for several days. When you think of it though, I'm sure many
pianos are shipped to dealers during cold weather. I don't know what
kind of damage is done by this.

This probably doesn't help you much.
