Lance Lafargue, I have experienced the same frustration. I agree that those notes around the plate strut always seem to be problems. I have no idea why this would be so. A short while ago someone suggested that the original stringer had difficulty putting these strings on and had probably kinked them a little. I don't find these to be true. I have carefully replaced these strings and still find them to be a problem. We have about 20 or so Baldwin Ms from about 1975 here at CCM. They all sound the way you describe. We have tried re notching, putting in new pins, and a lot of other things. The only thing that worked was putting on new bridge caps. So that is our current program. We've done about three now, and will do another four or so this summer and continue until the whole lot is done. **************************************************************************** Michael J.
